Deer hunting information:
We are located in Steuben County, in the southern tier of New York State. We are just off Interstate 390N, between Avoca-Cohocton. We are a sheep farm in the heart of Steuben Co. and have opened our large 1850's farmhouse to Bed & Breakfast guests as well as hunting and fishing enthusiasts.
300 acres located in the heart of Steuben County and documented as the #1 county in NYS for trophy and bucks taken. Hunt the edges of corn fields, clover fields, deep oak woods or old orchards along the creek. Permanent tree stands are available or you can bring your own portable stands. Ground blinds are available --- owner will recommend and guide you to areas, or you can hunt your choice. For the past 10 years we have practiced Deer Quality Management - only bucks taken are 8 pts. or better - which has resulted in a more mature buck herd. You may be fined for taking a buck smaller than 8 points.
We can accommodate 6-8 men, sharing rooms (twin beds), and bathroom.
Our rates for hunting are $125/night/person, and include 3 meals a day and night time ‘snack’ (usually pie). Lunch is packed so you can stay in the woods, but if you like the break of coming out for an hour or so, let me know in advance and I will serve homemade soups, pies, breads, etc. at the farmhouse.
My son is a novice at videoing deer on our property and has a video that is available for you to see if you would like. Keep in mind, however, he simply sits in the field at dusk and takes what comes along. He has gotten some pretty fantastic footage. Even Charlie Alsheimer has watched it and says, "men wait a lifetime to see bucks fight like that"! Charlie lives nearby and is author of several deer hunting books, magazine articles, and hunting seminars.
Reservations are held/confirmed upon receipt of $100 per person, non refundable. We appreciate no alcohol or smoking in the B & B.
